World premiere 28 March, 2013 - Lone Peak High School Wind Symphony, Curtis McKendrick, director.

The original inspiration for this piece came atop the summit of Mount Timpanogos, one of the tallest peaks in Utah. Some companions and I had hiked through the night to witness one of nature's most thrilling and beautiful spectacles: The Sunrise. An Aubade is a poem or piece of music celebrating the dawn or morning. Autumn Aubade attempts to recreate the feeling and the awe of such a compelling scene. Complete with wind created by half-valved brass instruments and optional antiphonal wind chimes, this piece will leave audiences and performers equally moved.
