For Orchestra with Winds

World premiere 23 May, 2013 - Lone Peak High School Symphonic Orchestra, Kathy Bird, director. Robert Alger - Conductor
My first attempt at writing for orchestra, this piece features the contrast between winds and strings as the two come together to create a harmonious work of music. Including antiphonal Trumpet and Mellophone placed behind the audience in the first refrain and instances of clapping, stomping, and drumming on instruments, this piece offers a unique feel will be a memorable part of any performance.
Admittedly, this piece is quite amateurish as I had very little experience with music for strings at this point in my schooling (I was 17 years old at the time). Nevertheless, I’ve chosen to leave it up on the website because it was a great learning experience for me.
