The inception of this piece came when a close friend, Ben Morgan, facetiously asked me to write a French Horn concerto following a rehearsal for a pit orchestra. Though it was initially a joke, the idea took root. I struggled to find a title, but Ben and I both wanted it to be dark and moving. While reading Viktor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning," I stumbled upon a beautiful Latin phrase taken from the Holy Bible, "et lux in tenebris lucet" - "and a light shines in the darkness."

This Horn Concerto shows the power of light to overcome the darkness and will be the highlight of any concert.
