Doing these transcriptions has been a humbling opportunity to do a side-by-side comparison of my sound and the sound of some of my favorite players.
Lee Morgan is the perfect marriage of technical proficiency and sense of style. His work with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and later his solo work ooze with swagger and his tone on the horn is enviable.
